Federal law (FLSA) and State of Illinois law require that overtime must be paid for many job categories. Job duties are key, not titles of jobs or even if the employee is being paid a salary. Employees who are eligible for premium pay must be paid 1.5 times their hourly wages. Salaried employees, based on their job duties, may also be eligible for overtime.

Chicago Area Dental Assistant, Successful Recovery
